Hey, guys! Guess what?
I was in the land of the 12th man! I drove my Prius up to Washington for two weeks in February. I was visiting some friends in Washington and decided to drive for Postmates and Caviar in Seattle while I was at it.
I stayed at a friend’s place in Kent, WA which is about 20 miles south of Seattle. Good thing gas is cheap these days because I had to commute 40 miles between the two cities to work as a courier.
I wasn’t there long but Seattle challenged me to take everything I’ve learned in Portland about courier delivery and apply it to the Seattle market, which is a city I’ve never driven in. Seattle taught me things that I can take back to Portland and become a super courier in the Rose City. I will pass the knowledge I learned to you so you can kill it in the gig-economy too!
There were a couple of on-demand food delivery companies in Seattle that aren’t in Portland yet so I applied to work for them. Two particular companies I looked into were DoorDash and Munchery.
From what I’ve read about DoorDash, they are very similar to Caviar; couriers deliver food from restaurants to customers. Munchery is a little different. They have in-house chefs who prepare food that customers can pre-order online. Then couriers will deliver these to your home, desk, or office. I will do more research on these companies and post what I learn in the upcoming weeks.
In the meantime, I’ll look through my notes and let you know how it went in Seattle.
I think that’s all the updates I have for now!
P.S.
I apologize I haven’t been updating much, it’s been a busy tax season.
