How It Works
The Lyft sign-up bonus normally offers an extra $250 for new drivers who finish 100 rides in 30 days. However, from now until the end of the year, the bonus will be $500 for 150 rides. Instead of 30 days to complete these rides, drivers will have 45 days.
As Lyft continues to expand, diversifying platform options can be a good idea for drivers—even if you already have a preferred gig economy platform. Besides, if you don’t like the platform after you’ve hit 150 rides and snagged your bonus, you’re under no obligation to continue.
To take advantage of this offer, follow these steps:

- Complete 150 in 45 days. For full-time Lyft drivers, this works out to around two rides per hour. If you’re balancing between a traditional job and this gig, or working with multiple gig economy platforms, be sure to manage your schedule so you can complete the rides in time.
- The $500 bonus will automatically show up in your account.
Changes to Lyft Good News for Drivers
Lyft recently added higher tipping options in their app. According to the company, this change to the app’s structure has resulted in an average tip increase of 13 percent for rides that cost more than $25.
Lyft drivers keep 100 percent of their tips, so any kind of higher tip option is going to be good news for drivers.
In addition, the holiday season tends to boost business in general for drivers. You’re more likely to receive ride requests from out of town customers who flew to the area and don’t have a car. There are also likely to be more late-night partygoers looking for a safe ride home. You’ll be able to get the 150 rides done in no time!
Lyft Eligibility
Lyft drivers have to be at least 21 years old. You also need a year of driving experience, a clean background check, and a car that is model year 2007 or newer.
