This post is for the late night hustler who wants to take advantage of late night conditions to make a few quick bucks on Postmates. Is that you? Keep reading.
If you drive for Postmates and Caviar in Portland like me, you’ll know that after 9:30 PM, Caviar is a ghost town because all the restaurants using Caviar are closed. So, some nights when I’m not feeling lazy after 9:30 PM and am in the downtown vicinity, I would switch over to Postmates to catch some late night action.
There are some restaurants that are going to stay open later than others. Here are five restaurants I think Postmates couriers should know and plan on delivering for during late night hours.
Santa Fe Taqueria
Santa Fe Taqueria is on NW 23rd Ave and is one of the few burrito places in town that opens late to cater to the busy 23rd Ave crowd. Also, the young college students studying at the Portland State University campus will not be able to get Chipotle, which closes at 10:00 PM. Santa Fe is a bit far to walk or take the streetcar to. Cue the Postmates app!
Luc Lac Vietnamese Kitchen
This is a popular and hip Asian restaurant on SW 2nd Ave downtown. It stays open late and has horrible parking so people won’t flock downtown when they can just have someone deliver for the same amount of money they would end up tipping at the restaurant. Cue the Postmates app!
Taco Bell
There’s only one Taco Bell downtown, located on NW 21st and Burnside. Taco Bell’s brand is all about late night munchies (and early morning diarrhea). Cue the Postmates app!
Wendy’s
There’s a Wendy on NW 14th and Grand Ave that some downtown Postmates customers will want. Couriers can skip across the river via a bridge, order drive thru and get back downtown to complete the delivery within 12-15 minutes during late night hours.
Voodoo Doughnut
Portlanders love Voodoo Doughnuts but accept this job only if you have cash. The minimum you’ll need is $13.50. Make sure to get Postmates to reimburse you for the cash. E-mail them about it and they’ll make sure you get reimbursed in your next payout.
Late night is a very good time to make money with Postmates in Portland. Traffic is nonexistent, parking is free, and the line is short. These conditions are perfect for someone hoping to ‘pew pew pew’ and knock out some fast deliveries and make quick money.
If you know what restaurants to stay close to, you can really make $25 an hour.
These five locations are usually ringing during late night hours and it’s safe to bet that the customers aren’t too far away and just want some quick bites but don’t feel like going out themselves. I recommend camping out close to Burnside Street on the west side of the river as it allows you to quickly get to all five locations.
Good luck! If there are tips you think will help the night owl Postmates, drop a comment!
