Below are the requirements to be an Instacart Shopper as of 2021.
Types of Instacart Shopper
Instacart has two kinds of shoppers: Full-Service Shoppers and In-Store Shoppers.
Full-Service Shopper Requirements
A full-service shopper completes customer orders by shopping at the grocery store and delivering food to their doorstep. If you would like to register as a full-service shopper, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be above 18 years old
- Must be able to lift around 30 to 40 pounds, on average, several times a day
- It would be best if you were officially authorized to work in the United States.
- You must have access to a vehicle at all times.
- Must have auto insurance
- Must have the latest smartphone capable of running the Instacart application (iPhone 5 or Android 4.4 or later)
Because not and everyone has access to a vehicle throughout the day, Instacart also allows you to register as a shopper at the store.
In-Store Instacart Shopper Requirements
A shopper at the store buys and packages items at the grocery store from a customer’s list and then delivers the delivery to someone else, or the customer picks up their groceries at the store. The requirements for a shopper are similar but slightly less stringent, as you don’t need access to a vehicle:
- Must be above 17 years old
- It would be best if you were officially authorized to work in the United States.
- It would be best if you had the latest smartphone capable of running the Instacart application (iPhone 5 or Android 4.4 or later)
- Must be able to lift around 30 to 40 pounds, on average, several times a day
