DoorDash has been working on a number of expansions lately. This month, it announced an expansion of its partnership with Dunkin Donuts and Wendy’s. In addition, the Chicago-based Wingstop restaurant chain is launching a pilot partnership with DoorDash, as the food delivery platform attempts to remain competitive in the growing food delivery market.
Here’s a little bit more about what’s new at DoorDash—and what it means for drivers.
DoorDash expands partnership with Dunkin Donuts
Dunkin Donuts already has menu availabilities in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Miami. This week, it made its menu available to customers in certain parts of New York and New Jersey. New customers can use DUNKINNYNJ for $5 off an order over $20, now through November 30*.
Couriers may find themselves delivering either an individual or a group order. Dunkin Donuts offers a number of bulk ordering items, including donuts by the dozen and a Box O’ Joe®, that are likely to be popular with businesses and other group events.
Dunkin Donuts is currently available for DoorDash delivery in Brooklyn and Manhattan as well, but is expanding to other New York locations.
Wendy’s partners with DoorDash
Also on the list of recent DoorDash expansions is a partnership with fast-food chain Wendy’s. The burger chain is set to begin offering delivery options through DoorDash at 2,500 locations spanning 48 markets by the end of 2017.
The restaurant piloted a delivery option in both Dallas and central Ohio. Wendy’s competes with Burger King for the largest burger chain (sales-wise), so it can’t open delivery options in every market. Such a huge rollout would require of 6,500 partnerships nationwide.
Wendy’s CEO Todd Penegor said part of the reason for only a partial rollout is that DoorDash isn’t available in all of Wendy’s locations at this point.
The partnership probably reflects Wendy’s need to amp up its delivery options in order to compete with McDonald’s, which has been pushing its delivery option through uberEATS recently.
This partnership could be good news in terms of more business for drivers. However, as many food delivery drivers know, fast food chains tend to come with low-budget orders and tips. Thus, accepting them may not always be the best strategy. You can brush up on your food delivery strategy here.
Wingstop in Testing Phase
Chicago drivers will soon see orders from Wingstop.
Dallas-based Wingstop Restaurants announced a second pilot delivery partnership with DoorDash as well. After a successful launch to the Las Vegas chunk of its more than 1,000 locations nationwide, the wings franchise will be piloting in 50 Chicago market locations as well.
The Las Vegas partnership resulted in a ten percent boost in sales for the company.
