DoorDash acquired Caviar in August of 2019. The acquisition was for $410 million in cash and stock.
For some time, the two brands were kept separate, but the pandemic hits, the food delivery industry saw significant shifts. Brands are all making business moves.
GrubHub sold to Just Eat Takeaway in June for $7.3 billion. Uber acquired Postmates in July for $2.65 billion.
One development in food delivery space is the phasing out of Caviar, which was own by Square since 2014 until it was sold to DoorDash.
Caviar Couriers will soon have to migrate over to DoorDash’s platform for delivery opportunities.
