I recently read about a Florida teacher who quitted his teaching job after 20 years in order to work full-time as a shopper for Shipt. He makes $100,000 a year shopping and delivering groceries on this platform. Wow!
This Florida man, Ed Hennessey, figured out a system and is now making double his teaching income. He was making $50,000 a year as a teacher in Florida. And it wasn’t enough. So he decided to deliver groceries on the side for Shipt. Now, he’s making double his teaching income. But he has to work a lot of hours per week, upward of 60.
“It’s so relaxing. I get to go out, and I’m outside all the time. I see people, and I’m my own boss. I am who I want to be,” he said.
It’s quite an encouraging story in an industry that is riddled with discouraged and frustrated participants.
Shipt is based in Alabama. It was founded in 2014, around the same time the on-demand economy was the talk of Silicon Valley. The brand advertises shoppers can make up to $22 an hour on their platform. Another company similar to Shipt is Instacart which operates out of the Bay Area.
If you’re wondering how much you can make delivering for gig economy companies in 2018, I have good news for you. It’s still possible to make a full-time income in the gig economy. There are people out there who pick a platform, focus, and figure out the best way to make money on that platform. Here’s the full story.
